About Trish

Posted by Trish

As an energetic communications and social media enthusiast, I am excited to announce TrishSkram.com is celebrating its one-year anniversary! Yay! Here, you’ll find a strong presence of public relations, social media and anything communications related that help encapsulate innovative PR and marketing strategy and opportunity.

Corporate life

I currently serve as the media/PR specialist for Mercy Health System in Janesville. In 2009, I became part of a rock star dynamic Web 2.0 team to mold and shape our online presence into the comprehensive network it is now. My role as media/PR specialist has essentially become, “PR 2.0.” Prior to my role as a media specialist, I spent a little over a year as a copywriter for Mercy Health System. Before that, I interned at Mercy, working in various capacitates for two years. Working in health care, specifically marketing and public relations copy editing, has always been a personal favorite. I am drawn to health care, especially because the opportunity for growth is very promising. The health care industry has allowed me to make a difference in the lives of those I serve. Providing value in other people’s lives is important to me as a professional and as a person.

Volunteerism is a high priority. I serve as a committee member for its Young Professionals Association for Forward Janesville (soon to be goodwill ambassador). I am a long-time member of the Wisconsin Healthcare Public Relations and Marketing Society and recently awarded with 3 merit awards for PR and a 2008 Judges’ Choice Award (group effort) for excellent proactive media relations and this year Judges’ Choice for excellent social media efforts. I continue to volunteer YWCA of Rock County, American Diabetes Association and have served four consecutive years as an executive planning board member and team captain for the Bert Blain Memorial Rock County American Heart Association Heart Walk.

I dedicate my nighttime and weekend leisure to family, friends and my passion for PR, social media and anything adventurous.

Education

I graduated in 2006 with a degree in communications, public relations and marketing from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater. I was an active member of American Marketing Association and served as an account executive for Creative Marketing Unlimited for three consecutive years.

I’m not married, but do share a wonderful life and cozy condo with a great man (my Mr. Big). I absolutely love coffee (cream and two sugars please). Friends and family have and always will be a top priority in my life. I do what I can to perfect my writing skills (probably why I’m blogging now). I of course, like to read … I also Internet surf, network, love chocolate and travel as much as my work schedule allows. I crave for those nights out with the girls, beer and pizza and good music. Most people can’t live without TV … I can’t live without the WORLD WIDE WEB.
